hi i am now looking to book for next may, looking at the lake district,

require a site that is not far from the m6, suitable for young children, 3, 5, 6 and 10. ie plenty to do on site as well as of site, a playground is a must, and a club house would also be great but not a must, clean showers/toilet blocks also a must.

thanks.

my son has just returned from the haven site at flookburgh, nr barrow. he really enjoyed it but did say the shop bar fish shop etc was overpriced which with 4 kids could cost you a fortune. personally i would go to castlerigg hall or farm in keswick which both have great clean shower toilet and washing facilitys, and use the lakes as your playground.

the site at Flookburgh has reviews on this site try

Check out this one at Pooley Bridge, Ulleswater - http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/results3.asp?search=park+foot&by=sitename - it's got the lot, including clubhouse (great disco on Saturdays!) and adventure playground. If you want EHU you stay on the main site, otherwise there's a camping field just across the lane, with direct access to the lake for swimming and boating. It does get busy at Bank hols though.

We've camped at Lakeland - Haven Site a couple of times and would definately go back.    On both occasions the toilet/shower block have been nice and clean.
Yes the fish and chip shop is expensive - but if the bar food prices are the same as their Greenacres site, then they are on a par with your average pub.
I appeciate that not everyone likes the type of entertainment offered, - but I find the kids shows great.

How much you spend in the arcade etc it pretty much up to you.    I have a set limit perday, and once it is reached that is it.     I also avoid the toys etc.     Also by taking own food or shopping elsewhere you can avoid the overpriced on site shop.

Also has the advantage of an indoor pool.    (Outdoor closed in Septemer - I think)

hi, I agree with Tigermouse, Park Foot should provide all you need. Also very quick off M6. Del.

I'd agree with the comments about Park Foot, but beware of erecting your tent too close to the centre: the older kids use one of the two playgrounds as a congregation point until 11:30pm, and it can get quite noisy.

I have to say that at 11:30pm they are moved off and all is quiet from then on. Otherwise the site is an excellent place for younger kids.
