We off with tent this Sat for 8 nights !!    It is listed on the campsite but only 2 reviews.    Wonder if anyone stayed there recently?   No info in reviews on nearest shops/pubs/restaurants.   If someone could help then might not have to pack in so much food and drink !!

thank you

the forestry commision site and the C&C site are next door to each other.  In a lovely area, great for walking, fishing and sight-seeing but not within walking distance of a pub.  It's an area we are very fond of, spent many a night at the Forestry site but make our own entertainment.  Take a couple of bottles of vino tinto and you'll be fine.   Go and see the view from the Rest and be Thankful - gorgeous or drive round to the famous oyster bar at loch fyne!  A good area to explore!  enjoy

We got back from staying at Argarton for 8 nights - very wet, we had to move the tent onto a bit dryer piece and after camping since being a small child 50 yrs ago, had to relent and buy EHU and a fan heater !    Not so much the cold but so so damp !   Although it did get cold so you could see your breath in tent at night.   The area is just amazing though - my first time in Scotland and we are definitely going back. Just walking and fishing.    I will send a review for the site which was right by the loch in middle of forest !

We were there a couple of weeks ago. Lovely site, very small, right by the Loch - great views and nice walks.

The site slopes in all directions so pitch carefully. We were in the motorhome, not the tent, so were on a hardstanding and didn't manage to get level even with ramps.

When we were there the grass pitches were very wet - no vehicles allowed on the grass at all and you could see deep ruts where one or two people had thought this didn't apply to them. Having said that there were 2 tents there at the time and they seemed to be doing OK. The wardens seemed to have a pretty good grasp of which areas were least wet, so have a chat with them about where you would be best to pitch.

It's a site I would happily return to - nice and peaceful and the views were well worth the slope for us.

As regards shop/pub, I reckon you are talking a car journey to get anywhere. Reception sold a few bits but only a few - milk, bacon, maybe butter and a few tins, can't remember fully. I would take supplies with you!

Would certainly agree with Janice that it wasn't warm - make sure you take enough stuff so you aren't cold, then you should be fine. Looking at the long range forecast is looks like sunshine and showers but still on the cold side.
