I appreciate this question has been asked before, but one was very old. Has anyone stayed at any really good sites near Legoland / Windsor? We were thinking about going to France with our extended family in May, but have decided to stay in the good 'ole UK.
Thanks in advance!

Amerden Camping and Caravan park near Maidenhead is very nice and handy for Windsor. We stayed there at the beginning of August and I have posted a review, there are also a number of other reviews. Look in the review section.
Its a really nice site with walks along the Thames, a jetty to launch a small boat and near to Henley, Maidenhead and Windsor ....
BUT at the weekend we encountered the most inconsiderate, ignorant, noisy bunch of prats ever who arrived with umpteen tents and erected them everywhere and then put up badminton nets and volleyball nets almost blocking us in. If I was ever to go back I would not go anywhere near where that area and would ask for a secluded CARAVAN ONLY site away from any tent areas. In fact if we had not been leaving the morning after the night before, they would not have had any tents to sleep in the next night.
I suppose they could have arrived anywhere though.

Amerden camp site i found to be very noisy as it is right below the M4. There is a nice campsite at Seer Green called Highclere Farm, stayed there many times and its very clean. It would take you about 25 minutes to Legoland, many people that have stayed there use it for Legoland.
I would also recommend Hurley. It is a lovely site and so easy to get to Windsor from and lots of other places too. The site is always clean and du eto the way it is set up, you never feel too cramped ( apart from the weekend raymcm went!!) We have been there many times , even though it is only 10 mins from home! My sister takes her caravan there 2 or 3 times a year and she is only half an hour away.
Amerden is noisy due to the motorway, but is a nice place.
If you are in the area there is also Windsor Castle, Cliveden House, Thorpe Park, and lots more. I love living in this part of the country ( though I would not turn down a move to the coast!!)
ask jackie if you can camp in her garden, you dont mind rottweillers do you?

Oooh I hadn't thought about Thorpe Park - I can buy the tickets with my Tesco Clubcard Vouchers, just like Legoland! This is going to be one thrilling holiday for the kids and one cheap and cheerful holiday for us parents!
I've noticed the Caravan Club has a site at Henley on Thames called Four Oaks, yet no one seems to have mentioned this....I'm off to see the reviews....
