Hi to you all

We are thinking about our trips to France for next year and as we now have a caravan we are looking for a site reasonably close to Dover to use as a stopover. Can anyone give any recommendations for sites that handle early/late arrivals/ departures due to catching the Dover/Calais ferry.

I hope this is the right link. We camped here a couple of years ago and there were quite a few overnighters for the ferry. Nice campsite.

It's up to you, but we stopped in the 24 hour Tesco car park for 3 or 4 hours just to get our heads down before catching the 06:00 ferry. It was quiet and we had no problems at all. Even got our sandwiches/drinks for the ferry journey over! They have 24 hr petrol too - just use a credit card when kiosk is closed.

The store is located on a trading estate on the same road that sweeps around and over the ferry terminal in Dover - about one mile away from it. I'm sure that Tesco's have a store locator facility on their website if you want more specific directions.

Black Horse Farm CC site at Hawkinge - about 15 mins from Dover port. This site is ideal for late arrivals or early leavers, and get the vast majority of their business from people going to or coming from the continent.

One part of the site is set aside purely for vans coming & going - very easy to get to.
