Hi,

I'm trying to find a campsite to visit this weekend. The criteria:

  • In Lincolnshire
  • Dogs allowed
  • pref electric hook up but not essential
  • Pub on site or nearby would be advantage
  • Near beach or nice walk
  • Not too commercialised, eg, don't like Skegness.

I tried to get in at the Brandy wharf camp site but unfortunately no luck. Does anybody know of a site within staggering distance? or a lane I could get away with parking my camper in???

Thanks

Hi

We use this site a lot Silver Birches . Its in Barton Nth Lincs. EHU, Real Ale Pub about 100m away (does good food).

The owners are really nice and have their own dog (Hamish) so dogs welcome.

Nice walk along the Humber, the new visitor centre and nature trail.

HTH

Paul.

We have stayed at the site near Lincoln, don't remember the name. Nice walks but you would have quite a long way to walk to the nearest pub.

I know a lot of people wouldn't touch them, but the Haven site at Mablethorpe usually gets good reviews. We stayed there in a mobile home, and it was a good site. Ticks all your boxes too, a nice 1/2hr seafront walk from the town, pub on the way, beach right across across the road.

What about Skegness water and leisure park.....bear with me ....I know you said not Skeg but it's in Ingoldmells, has a pub on site, very near beach......nice one too, takes dogs and though it's a big site I wouldn't think it's overcrowded at this time of year. I was pleasantly surprised at this site because I hate big commercial sites.

Having had the misfortune to have spent 1 day at Ingoldmells, it would be the last place I would go to - even in low season. But each to their own  !

Mablethorpe is quite nice, lots and lots of sand and kite flying. We went there from the Lincoln site. Also went to Skegness, have seen a lot worse. Did not go to Ingoldmells though.

Hi all

Thanks for your replies. I shan't be using the Ingoldmells, Skegness or Mablethorpe suggestions though. Sorry, I should have been a bit more precise in my listing but I work in Mablethorpe and the others are on my doorstep.

I have found a site in Snitterby at The Royal Oak. Has anybody had any experience of this site? I'm trying to get hold of the owner to find out how far from The Brandy Wharf he is, but no luck so far. I'm hoping it's within staggering distance!!

Once again, thanks and keep 'em coming. I may try other suggestions on other bored weekends!

Caroline

The Royal Oak at Snitterby is very close to us. Never been in the pub, but have driven past - it's a small CL site in a small village (pub, no shops).   I don't know what the pub's like, but it's not one of these pubs that's well known in the area for good food or anything, so I guess it's your standard village pub.   It should be quiet as there's no main road close by.   Snitterby is about 4-5 miles from Brandy Wharf.

This may be too close to work, but the Caravan Club site at Sutton on Sea is lovely.   It fits all of your criteria except being near to a pub!

We can't bear Skegness, Ingoldmells etc, but Sutton on Sea is OK - no amusements there at all, and a traditional seaside village.

Must admit we only went for a weekend, went with a group of friends but it's not our first choice of places to go but we had a good time.
