 Hiya Matt

I live in carlisle, not to far from Silloth, I see you are from Leyland, Ive just drove from down there visiting family, (there was a caravan in the central reservation, vehicle turned over, makes you think), anyway, hope they are ok, back to the question.  I know you would probably look at the map and look at coming off at junct. 40 or 41 to head west but, I wouldadvice you to travel a bit further up the m6 junction 42 Carlisle, its only 15 mins past Penrith.  Well if you get off at 42, take the 2nd turn off rounabout into Carlisle A6, you end up travelling into the city down London Road onto Botchergate, right into the centre. Just keep in the left lane, as you get in th centre you are following the road round to the left signed, Workington - over a bridge near the train station, head into the right hand lane, straight across at the traffic lights -stay in the right lane, follow the road as it turns right at some lights(at the same time the left lane disapears and just your lane is left, heading toward workington, passed Llidl and Dunealm Mill.  Up to the traffic lights at Dixons Chimney (look skyward on the right) torn right at the lights, within 1/4 mile you will be turning left - road splits, you will be heading to Workington, Whitehaven, almost straight away you are joining the main road, (nr McVities factory), you are now on the A595, directly ahead at roundabout heading toward west Cumbria.Carry on on the A595, petrol station with toilet just after the edge of the city boundry. Maybe 5 miles, rounabout take 3rd exit A596, carry on toward Wigton (6 miles), sigh for a right turn to Silloth B5302, this is a smaller road, but not really a bad one, couple of narrow bridges and corners.Drive through waverbridge, Abbeytown, Calvo, then into Silloth. You will probably know where you are now, you end up turning onto the cobbled main street from the road that leads to the Sunday market.  I would choose this way rather than the miles and miles of small roads from Junct 41.

Good luck, Enjoy.

Shirley
