Sibrig But because the CC do not take deposits I've heard they have a lot of no shows - people who book almost every weekend right at the beginning of the season and then don't turn up for most of them which means that the site appears to be fully booked when in fact there is space - that can't be fair. At least if people have paid a deposit they are likely to turn up unless they have a very good reason not to.
Yes, that's probably right about the CC, certainly if you look online at their more popular sites such as Bolton Abbey or Clumber Park, they are nearly always fully booked every weekend and I have been at both sites when they have apparently been fully booked and seen empty pitches. However, the CC "says" that it is cracking down on members who have a record of a high proportion of no shows.

I think the C&CC clubs are more imaginatively laid out the C&CC tend to just be all the same... just an observation

Ina CC sites do not have to allow for ginormous tents that take up a pitch and a half as they dont take tents on most of their sites. Maybe that is why the C&CC have to allocate pitches. Fat Bum
The CCC have about 100 sites with about 90 taking caravans, the CC have about 200 sites with about 70 taking tents. Looking at these figures the CC have almost as many sites taking tents as the CCC.

Choice can be a bad thing - because if confronted with a whole campsite and told you could have any pitch you wanted how on earth would you decide?

Personally, we don't like to be straight opposite, or next to, toiletblocks, I'd rather look at a nice view than the walls of a loo-block. Also, we try to choose a pitch which doesn't have the potential of others using it as a shortcut (but that has been a thread in its own right already, so won't go into that further now).
No doubt others have their own preferences for whatever reason, but at the end of the day I for one prefer to be able to choose my own pitch.

We've stayed on CC sites which take tents too, and were still able to choose our pitch.
I think at the end of the day you 'pays your money and you takes your pick'. CC sites are more expensive, but as far as I am concerned have the edge over the CCC sites. CCC give discount for over 55's which the CC don't.
Whilst we use Club sites we also make use of both their CL and CS networks. A lot of those are very good value for money, and are often in nicer surroundings than the Club sites themselves.

Yes, but that statistic is a bit misleading. On the CC sites that allow tents, they are usually (if not always?) confined to a specific designated area, they don't get to use the same pitches as other users.

Nothing misleading at all it is just raw data, no conclusions drawn from it.
