Hi

I've booked for a 2 week stay here during the summer. We have EHU & need to find our own pitch on arrival with the arrivals being from 3pm.

How does the choose your pitch thing work?  I've got visions of being the last to arrive & getting stuck in a corner where no one else wants to be.

I've read reports advising to get there early to choose a good pitch.  Can you arrive before 3pm?  What time is it advisable to get there bearing in mind our booking is for peak season (mid August)?

Any suggestions of good pitches for a biggish tent with EHU?

Thanks

Hi

We normally turn up early and see if they let us will pitch early, most people start packing after breakfast. If possible park close to the pitch you like.

Once they have gone try and book in,

When we went to St Ives bay last year we arrived early and they have a stacking system where they queue cars in rows and filter them through to the camping area. Theoretically if you get there early you should be at the front of the queue to get the best choice. I must confess I prefer the pre booked pitch process where you are guaranteed a pitch - good or bad.

think i will take both of your advice n get there early.  just not looking forward to queueing for hrs with 2 small children.  I guess I could always take the kids off to explore the beach whilst hubby waits in the queue  ;o)

I know with a pre booked system you could end up with a rubbish spot but at least you would get the same pitch whether arriving at 7am or 7pm. Looks like will be an early start to finish the 6 hr journey by a decent time.  If only we lived closer...but I guess we would probably go to the other end of the country if we did...

Hi 2mn   We went to ST Ives last year.....we arrived on site at 8a.m and were on a pitch (of which we had a good choice) at 9.15......the staff couldn't have been more pleasant and helpful.......all in all the hol. was a good experience from start to finish...... they even let us park the trailer tent up for the day in the holding field so we could travel home late on saturday evening .......no sitting in traffic all day trying to get home and chance for one last afternoon on the fabulous beach

 Hope u enjoy

Emmsy

Good to know Emmsy.

Was thinking of travelling down through the night, planning on arriving about 9 ish but didn't know if they would turn us away.

Do they stick hard fast to the vacate by 9am rule? Didn't get the tent until mid August this year so still very much novices & am sure would have to be up & packing away at 2am to be off for 9!!!

       Hi

We weren't off our pitch until much before 10 that morning even though we had packed as much as possible the night before  but with a trailer tent it's hard to do because lots of it goes inside the trailer. They weren't coming round kicking anyone off and alot of pitches were free because all those with tintops can pack up much quicker!!  Hope you have a fab time there we will hopefully be booking to return once have sorted xmas shopping lol
