anyone stayed or know this campsite, they have a website on here, but there are no reviews, which is strange.

Not stayed at Putsborough but know the area and site very well.

The main problem is access to this site down narrow lanes.

The route in takes you through Croyde to Georgham and then to Putsborough.

These roads are very narrow and you have problems in places passing car to car without the van in tow.

The last section from Georgham is very narrow.

I personally ruled this site out because of the access, I  have not seen a site with worse access anywhere.

I have seen twin axle vans on this site and so I think if you are really keen go for it but expect the worse.I would think arriving at Croyde in the very early morning would probably be your best bet.

Yep what said by Dave. The site is in a lovely location. We love North Devon but the roads are a real pain, we walked to Putborough from West Down (Hidden Valley) and yeah you wouldn't want to drive anything big down them, saying that White Van Man gets through so its not impossible.

Is the access even worse than the C&CC site at Bakewell (actually Youlgreave)? We won't be going there again for several reasons, access being one of them.

There are a lot of sites that have bad access, some seem bad the first time you go but then not quite as bad next time as you know what to expect.

i was looking at this site a couple of years ago and it was the access that put me off (and the fact that i wouldnt like to be pitched nearest to the sea cos looked like it was on a bit of a slant to me) but im sure i read somewhere that you could only book saturday to saturday on there and that they would guide you thru the lanes to the site.

i may have that totally wrong, as it was a few years ago but something sticks in my mind that i read that somewhere

Further to my previous post the route into the site is from Braunton, Croyde and into Georgeham, then turning left for Putsborough. This route is quite narrow in places with the definate possibility of the van scraping bushes etc.

There is another road in directly from Croyde, however DO NOT attempt to tow the van through here. Many hairpin bends etc etc.

The beach runs from Putsborough to Woolacombe approx 3 miles in length.

Dogs are allowed on the beach, not immediately below the site at Putsborough but a couple of hundred yards along towards Woolacombe.

You are allowed to walk your dog onto the beach and through the banned area on a lead.

Have just visited Putsborough.

Beautiful scenery to which I said to hubby make the most of it as there is no way I am coming back here.

The road from Georgham where we stayed (we were checking out camp sites in the area for next year) was the worst car ride I think I have ever had.  The road is just a little wider than the car with far too few passing places and huge hedges to you can't see a thing.  Loads of cars were coming in the other directions and I nearly had a nervous breakdown over it all.

The people in the B&B told me the caravans on the site were permanent during the season and were moved by a local farmer to his field during the winter then he transported them down to the site for the season.
