Hi

Sept 2007 we camped at the C&C Club site on Loch Long and loved it ..... Sept 2008 we want to go back but must be either on the West Coast (but not too far north preferably cos we can only go for one week from Nottingham) or on a sea loch because of fishing!

Any suggestions please - we are couple in 50s with a dog so dont really want a particularly child-friendly (been there, done that !!) or an all singing all dancing site..... clean, spacious and curfew around 11 pm.... oh, and a pub within walking distance..... are we asking too much?      I am confident though someone will give good advice and thank you in advance.

Happy New Year

CC site at North Ledaig, 4 miles North of Oban. good but maybe to many kids for you. Best site I have ever been on.

Agree with Big H - the CC site at North Ledaig is excellent.  Good bus service into Oban if you want to leave the car behind.

Another one is the CC site at Bunree, just south of Fort William. Lovely site, good walking a very short distance from the site, and a pub and restaurant a short walk up the lane.

hi we stayed at ardlui on loch lomond in summer 06 - it was about an hour and 15 mins drive up to Oban. its a lovely site, its also a hotel where you can get a lovely breakfast in the mornings and its attached to a pub, a lovely traditional feel about it. there are mostly statics and lodges on the site, it was very quiet when we were there in summer in terms of kids, it was mostly couples. there is also a small shop on the site selling the basics and daily papers etc and the views of the loch from the pitches were breathtaking.

ive read a few reviews on this site that dont seem to reflect the experience we had, we found the staff were fantastic and we loved the pub. if there was no one about when we needed assistance we simply went into the hotel and they were happy to help. we would definitly go back.

Hi Janetwilli,in regard to Dumfries and Galloway there are lots of sites to choose from one of our favourites is Glenluce campsite in the small village of Glenluce. Its quiet and a couple of minutes stroll into the village with pubs etc.A short drive takes you to the Mull of Galloway,Portpatrick or Wigtown(Scotland's booktown).Brighouse Bay near Kirkcudbright is a more commercial site with first class facilities, but there really is a lot to choose from.

Mick

Hi Jane

I was going to mention Dumfries and Galloway also loads of lovely sites and a lot more quiet than up north. One site that would suit you could be Powfoot lovely wee site sits on the sea just 15 miles from Gretna and has hotel five minute walk away.

If you opt for Powfoot booked a seaview site great views.

Try C&CC site at Glencoe.

The light on the scenery changes from hour to hour with the weather.  Absolutely fascinating, and the beauty of the Great Glen is breathtaking.

The facilities on the site are excellent.

Cock Inn at Luce Bay. Very quiet site, almost on the beach and a pub overlooking the bay.

Welcome Janet.
