Does anyone know of a good site for tents in Pembrokeshire? Please bear in mind we would probably be taking a large tent though, possible a Nebraska XXL or Montana 12 (if OH decides not to give the XXL a FOURTH chance!) We would want EHU, clean toilets and showers and if we were near a beach that would be great. We would like to be in a shortish driving distance of a town and preferably not too far away from your usual sightseeing and things to do. We don`t need a bar or club on site, but don`t mind if there is one as long as it`s not too rowdy!
Has anyone any ideas? We don`t want to pay the earth either!
Thanks in anticipation!
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
We stayed at Manorbier Country Park, about 5 miles from Tenby, and had a great time, even though the weather was woeful. Lots of tourist attractions in the local vicinity. I must get round to writing a review about it, but will truely recommend it. We would go back again this year if in the area.
Important: If you are posting details of a site, please ensure you link to their UKCampsite.co.uk listing, not direct to their website, to enable reviews etc to be read.
We've booked at Llwyngwair Manor Holiday Park in newport, not been before but the reviews are good, we've got a large tent and I was told we'd need two pitches so I was worried the price would be high but they have charged me £28.00 per night including electric hook up for five people in July which I don't think is too bad, especially when we will be getting the extra space of two pitches.
There is a bar on site but it looks fairly laid back.
We also would be interested in any feedback from Manorbier Country Park as we like the area and are thinking of spending a week there in the summer ,thanks all
We stayed at Wood Park which is at New Hedges a few years ago. And we really enjoyed it. The site was basic but well maintained. There is a small bar but it is very quiet and friendly. It is family run and they were very nice. New Hedges is inbetween Tenby and Saundersfoot so only a few minutes to each. There is a beach called waterwynch within walking distance but we didn't go, choosing to go to Saundersfoot instead.
I wouldnt be so sure about that site. Even though they had some favourable reviews, they threatened to sue us if we did not remove all of them. Work that out, and draw your own conclusions.
Wow that is weird. The owners (mother and daughter) seemed really nice and were very helpful. That is strange. We haven't been back to Pembs since but always thought we would go back there if we did.
Well Park is right next door to Wood Park. We visited their club house for a drink a few times and had a look round the site and it looked good. Perhaps this is worth a try instead as the location is so good and central for Tenby and saundersfoot. http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/details.asp?revid=3776

Have you looked at Howelston (Little Haven). It's on my list of sites to visit - has the most amazing views, decent reviews on here and the prices seem very good. We wanted to go last year but had to cancel and they had no problems with us wanting an EHU pitch with a vario 900. You get use of all the facilities at Sunnyvale (Club, swimming pool, shop etc), beach is a short walk down the coastal path and Haverfordwest which has a Tesco as well as lots of other shops is within 8 miles.
New to camping ourselves (with 2 kids now age 4 & 20 months) having only done 2 previous trips in 2006. Aug 07 we stayed at Hasguard Cross which is with a few mins drive of fabulous beaches and close enough to Haverfordwest for a tesco shop etc. Little Haven a very short drive and just lovely with a great beach for kids when the tide is out. CLose by is Broadhaven - large for surfing etc. Many coastal walks and attractions near by. Site has statics, caravans and field for tents (about 20 I think but there were only max of 8 when we were there!). Slightly sloping, but nothing to cause a problem, and well kept - grass on pitch was trimmed fresh as we arrived. The shower/toilet/washing block etc was newly revovated and very clean. There is a bar onsite which we didn't use (kids to young to leave) but it wasn't load, even though it was busy. They do food I think if you wanted that. Helpful and friendly owners and we would return (though with the promise of better weather!!). Not sure on EHU as we didn't need it. Oh and we have a Sun valley 8 and had no problems with space.
We tried to get Howelson like pp but it was booked. Redlands was next to where we stayed so obviously can't comment on it as we didn't stay there.
Pembrokeshire is a great UK holiday destination, if only the weather could be guaranteed...
