We have been going there for years and love it, but it does get booked well in advance as it has a lot of regular users. The owner has another field that takes about 14 more caravans with electric hookups there is also a television aerial point to each hookup.

Did you eventually go to Pidgeons Farm and if so what did you think? He has put his prices up this year from £8 to £10, That was in low season dont know what he charges in school holidays I think its more. Quite a steep increase I thought.

Yes we did go but were not too happy with it.

We had booked well ahead for the CL, but he said when I booked that we might have to move to an "overspill" field for the last night only as he was already fully booked for it, but if anyone cancelled then we would be ok.

When we arrived, first we had a job getting in due to other cars parked, then could not get any answer at the house.  Walked up to the site and could see that there were already 5 vans on the site, so got out handbook to look for an alternative site.

Owner appeared at that point and hummed and hawed, appeared to have selective recall concerning our booking and eventually said we could go on his "other" site.  This was quite a nice big grassed area up the back, but the lane to it was narrow, muddy, bumpy and twisty, with lots of bushes and overhanging trees.( we have a big van)

As it was by now raining heavily we agreed to take the pitch, but the place was very wet, and just got wetter!  He gave us a wooden pallet to put at the door!

When we came to leave we were driving through standing water , only just made it out.

Cant remember what we paid, could have been £9, certainly not more than £10.  We were there late May.

The actual CL bit seemed quite small, but was hardstanding, which would have obviously been better in that weather.

He is a bit like that seems very forgetful but it is usually in his favour. I think he overbooks th CL and always says if he has a cancellation he will contact you but never does. The other field is OK but with only 1 shower on site in the ladies and 1 in the gents, there is often a problem with people having to wait to use it especially as he takes tents as well. When you book you think there are only 5 caravans using the facilities when there are often 20 or more. One of our friends put a large scratch on thier caravan while going up the track to the other field on the overhanging bushes. We have not been back since the price went up at £8 it was Ok but there are better sites araound for £10. We often had a problem with him coming to the door when we arrived, and one time he said he would run the mower over the pitch before we went onto it, and went back into his house. We were till sitting on the field waiting 15 minutes later so we went back to the house and he said the phone rang and he had forgotten about us. That was on the CL site right under his nose.

Sounds familiar!

Luckily we are self contained as far as showers etc are concerned.

In the lane we used 2 way radios, with me running behind to make sure there was clearance!

We used 5 CLs on the trip, first time we have tried any.  While on most the site was fine, we had access problems on all but one, narrow gates, narrow roads, not much room for a big van to swing round!  The radios were invaluable.
