not been to that one, but been to 2 in n. yorks - blue dolphin and primrose valley, both were good, caravans were brilliant. we're not keen on the onsite entertainment anyway but it was ok for 4 days, went out all day everyday

Not been to that one, but have been to Lakeland and Greenacre, both camping and in a caravan.   Both times the caravan was lovely, as was the one at Carla Gran.
Wasn't over impressed with the chalet at Hafan Y Mor - poorly equiped, yet somebody I know went to a chalet there a year later, and said that they couldn't fault it.  Have had no problems camping.
My kids are still at the age to enjoy the kiddies entertainment, and have found the afternoon shows a boon on a wet afternoon.    Also the evening shows give me a time to chill out after dinner, while the kids are entertained.
I think that the sites can vary a lot.
Also think that they are cleaning up their act a bit.
Yes there is over priced junk to be bought in the shops if you want.

I have never felt pressurised with regards to buying a caravan, even when we have gone to the free BBQs, which are obviously aimed at getting people to buy a van,

Quay west earned me £75................................thats how much Haven paid me coz we had a bad holiday....

Problems were a) caravans stored on the artifical pitches, b) owners allowing dogs to wander off leads (will expected consequences) and c) the (rather small) pool was freezing because it had been out of use for a few days.

Shops and food/bar are as you might expect at these kind of places but some local shops have nice thing and not too expensive.

ON THE GOOD SIDE....Its a nice walk down into New Quay itself either along the road (careful of places with no footpath) or better still along the beach as long as you judge to tides right.  Although only small, the beach in NQ itself was very clean and best of all there was nothing better than sitting on the jetty wall watching the dolphins play in the bay.  I took dd out on the survey boat for an afternoon and had good time but better still was one of the little boat trips that virtually went through the middle of a pod.

Hi Diane

We stayed a week there in July 2006. The beach is fabulous although the walk to it was quite steep. The caravan we had was clean and comfortable. Bar prices were IMHO horrific (2 pints & a Red Bull £7.50).  Hence we only did the club house on the last day and found the entertainment good (2 ex-members of the Russian State Circus doing strong man act/ Gymnastics). Facilities were limited to an indoor pool that was small but well staffed, The "Splash Zone" was again small and the "Golf" was a small, over priced crazy golf course. "Rory's Fun Land" turned out to be a climbing frame and some chargeable trampolines.

In Summary though we had a great week, primarily as the weather was good and we spent every day on the beach.

Hope this helps but if I can tell you any more please don't hesitate to ask.

Dave

Hi Diane.  Yep we stayed in a static and got an offer on s gold level caravan.  The van itself was great.  The onyl problems were with the park as mentioned before.  The town itself is lovely.  Kids want to go back soemtime just for beach and dolphins so weve looked a coupel of tiems of going camping in the area for long weekend.

We have booked for a week in july, staying in a prestige caravan which looks really nice,  and my daughter is looking forward to seeing the dolphins and I noticed that there is a theme park not too far away which looks good to!

When we are at Greenacres last August, we ate a couple of times in the bar - prices on a par with the likes of Brewers Fayre, and a similar range/standard.   I think that I  paid about £1.25 for a glass of bitter.
We didn't bother with drinks when we went to watch the shows, as the prices in the Showbar tend to be higher.
