River Valley at London Apprentice near St austell is an excellent site with pool and good facilities. Its about 2 miles from beach at Pentewan, but there are better beaches in the area, for which it is very handy to get to.

Magic Cove - Mawgan Porth, it is a 300 yrd flat walk to the sand.
Trevornick - about a 20 minute walk through sanddunes down a path from the site to Holywell Bay beach.
Tollgate Farm - 15 minute walk from site to Perranporth beach and shops.

Sorry thats me done, havent been to any others yet.

This is a fab campsite, not the cheapest but big tents and dogs are accepted (tell them when you book) and there is a lovely beach within walking distance (you can see the sea from some of the pitches).

It is quite remote (but St Austell, Asda and Tesco are a 20 mins drive and you can stock up on your way to the site), but has quality facilities and a lovely pool. It is not an all-singing, all-dancing campsite, but does have a great play area for the kids, crazy golf, badminton nets etc.

Best of luck, whatever you decide!

Erm, I've just checked the 2008 pricelist and they are now charging a whopping £56 per night for the deluxe family pitches, in high season!

We like it there, but not that much!

Is this a record, do you think?

What sort of age are your children. I think where you camp can depend on them to a certain extent as well.

We have two (now 21 and 17) who loved going to different beaches. We camped at Trelowarren, behind Culdrose, near Helston for about ten years and they had friends every year there. It was set in thd middle of a thousand acre stately home, about three miles from the beach. It was a case of what beach is everyone going to today and you would see four sets of parents dotted along a beach watching about 12 kids in the sea. It was lovely - they were happy, we were happy - everyone had a great time in the evening.

Trelowarren don't do camping any more - it was a lovely site, apart from Ginger who was the rudest man I have EVER met!

Can recommend Gwithian Farm, been with our children and dog great site.  Beach has dog friendly area all year and the pub across the road also allows dogs inside (and the children).
