I'm looking to go to North Yorkshire this year but I can't decide whether to stay in the Dales or the Moors. There are so many campsites in Yorkshire, it's mind boggling!
My perfect campsite would be somewhere with a dog walk, a bath, walking distance to a dog friendly pub and doesn't cost the earth in June. I like walking and castles, not bothered with the beach. Dog friendliness is the most important part as she comes everywhere with us.
Any suggestions?

I've had a look there and it was a strong contender but I've been put off by the access problems. A lot of people have mentioned difficult access for caravans on the reviews.

Well there's drivers & then there's screwdrivers i'm affraid, i approach from Summerhouses end granted it's narrow for about 300yrds just use common sense, my vans 24ftx8ft with a car on the back, maybe best to approach from Ripon (bus route)
How about Goosewood Holiday Park in York - its a lovely park - although only been in winter but from what I gather there is a jacuzzi, hot tub tho they wern't open when we were there. They do take pets - I'm sure.
Thanks Mick, I'll have another look at Woodhouse Farm. Peter is a good driver so if it's only a short stretch that's narrow, it should be fine.
Thanks Denise, Goosewood looks Ok but there's no dog friendly pub about so probably not ideal for us, and we wouldn't use the spa facilities either as I don't think our dog would fancy it

We like both the moors and the dales but if we had to choose I would have to say the dales but we love both. If you look Harrogate or around A1 way out then you can have best of both worlds.
Just one bit of advise, we went to Black Swan at Fearby near Masham and wasnt impressed, small and cold toilet block,(oct), owner had just cut hedge and not cleared twigs away properly just before we went on we got a tent (yes we did book), and pub not up to much. Thats my personal view and we wont be going back
When we have camped there we normally nip to Goathland which is "Aidensfield" in "Heartbeat".There are some good walks there close to the North Yorkshire Railway.
If you go look out for the "Sand Castle" which has replaced the "Golf Balls" on Fylingdales Moor!
I live in York, and i prefer the Dales to the Moors, a little more picturesque but, the Moors isn't far to be able to do both. I haven't yet camped in the Dales but i will one day hopefully.
