Judging by some of the replies, the guy has a problem and if he continues to speak to people in such an offensive manner, then word will get round and he might find himself running out of customers and that will be his own fault.
Golden Valley is a Campsite, it was open, the barrier was up, the guy should expect that people might like to visit and look round. We wanted to look round a site once, before booking and the warden approached us as we drove onto the site. They weren't at all abrupt and off hand, they were very polite and welcoming - just how I would expect someone offering a public service to be. At Golden Valley, I would have done the same as Mick & Elaine, drove onto the site to look for someone. If the guy doesn't want 'just anybody' wandering round the site, why was the barrier up?

We've just booked for this site and the lady we spoke two seemed very pleasant. Looking for reassurance now!

Julian,
Just to reassure you, we stayed on this site last September, and a very peaceful site (even when full), with a nice layout.
Yes, the owner was seen driving around a lot, but from what I could gather, the site is still relatively new, and there was still quite a lot of work being carried out (although not disturbing). As I personal opinion, I think the fact that the owner is so visible is quite a good thing to deter any anti-social behavoir (I wish some other sites would follow this lead).
Regarding the attitude of the guy, unfortunately I cannot comment, as when we booked I spoke to a lady, and whilst I was on site everyone seemed pleasant.
Dave.
