Good people,

I am looking for recommendations for a nice family friendly campsite in the lake district.

Decent facilities (not Ritz standard but clean toilet/ shower block)

Good local pubs etc.

Many thanks

Jim25

We go to the lakes every year and there are some great sites.  2 stick out above the others for us.  The Club's Park Coppice in Coniston is one of the best in Britain with lake access and a 15 minute walk to town.  Great pubs, one - the Black Bull - making the best beer in Britain (officially).  The Sun is also brill.

The Castlerigg Hall site in Keswick is also excellent.  Great views and facilities and a pub next door.  An excellent web-site too.

You cant go wrong with these 2 sites.

Another vote here for the Caravan Club's Park Coppice in Coniston - we went for the August bank holiday last year.

What an amazing site! Take inflatables with you so the kids can mess about on the water while you chill at the lakeside.

I am only recommending it to you because we have already reserved our August break there.

CC Club Site, Braithwaite Fold, Windermere - nice quiet site. Only a  5 mins walk from site to Lakeside/Steamers/Boats/Pub/Food for hire. Town 10 mins walk away. Supermarket at top end of town [car drive]. There is a lovely Large Pitch and Putt golf course close to the site.

parkfoot ullswater, there is a review on here.  Went last year, first camping trip for ages, with two small kids.

Loved it.  Brilliant shop on site, takeaway and clubhouse.  You can camp on the edge of ullswater but thats over the road from main site.  We'll be going back if we can!
