Hi

Wanting to travel to Scotland in June for a couple of weeks.  Any recommendations? 

As previously posted we have been looking at Luss and Milarrochy Bay campsites.  But any other suggestions woiuld be appreciated!

Go to the Hebrides! we went Sept 07 and did 2 weeks touring and can't wait to go again.

I've posted reviews on all the places we stayed in the campsite reviews including wild camping on Barra,

Have a look at Aberfoyle just round the corner from L/Lomond (about 12 miles) has a lovely wee village and idea for traveling round as close to Sterling and Glasgow also not far from Blair drummand safari park. We have stayed at cobleland (i think this is name ) with forest holidays it is about 2 miles from village with cycle track to village and beyond, also has a river run through campsite which is good for paddling basic site but clean and everything you need. Also stayed at Trossachs park about 2 miles from first one same again nice site with everything you need they also get you a discount at the local lesiure centre in aberfoyle.

I'd wanted to go to Scotland for 40 years and when I got home from the North West Highlands last September and started to look for this years visit(!) I realised just how much I had missed. As an untravelled Devonshire boy the scenery made Dartmoor, as beautiful as it is,like a small, flat, skateboard park.(Unless you get out and walk it, and then appreciate it).This year want to go to the area between Ullapool and the Isle of Skye (Poolewe area) but must try not to put in too many miles and slow down to look more carefully. Use this site coupled with photographic sites like www.flickr.com and video sites like you tube and this sites mapping and aerial photography facilities and then with your own tastes you will have the trip of a lifetime. Just remember when you go round a corner and there is another fabulous scene before you...check your mirror and signal left before you swerve to stop at the side of the road!

Can second the recomendation for the Outer Hebrides, Sailed from Oban and returned via Ullapool, a fantastic trip, especially wild camping at the Airport on Barra. 

I don't think there are many bad places in Scotland, it depends how far you want to travel and what amenities you want.

As we are in a camper van we tend to tour round rather than stay in one place, so your requirements as a tenter may be different. Dunkeld on the East side is nice as is Aviemore area. We also travelled to Orkney then back down the middle as it were from Tongue to Lairg. Fabulous.

Glen Coe and Fort William areas are also good as is  Arran.

I could go back every year I think, there is so much to see.

 I camped at Luss a few years ago and found the campsite realy clean and tidy. Lots to do round about. We had a great time. Access off the A82 which can be busy at times. Milarrochy Bay is other side of Loch  Lomand and more peaceful but access road quite windy. Depends what you prioritys are and who you are travelling with.  A site worth a look is at Loch Morlich by Aviemore run by the Camping and Caravanning Club. It is right on the loch where watersports are available. You also have lots of opportunities for walking. It's near to the Reindeer Centre and not far from the Landmark Adventure Park which is great fun for kids. You are within easy drive of Inverness. I have also camped at Nairn, Oban, and Black Isle all of which I would be happy to return to.
