Can anyone please help, we are wanting to go to a caravan site near to Chester and also not to far from Liverpool. Looking to go in August for 1 week.  We have two children aged 10 & 7 so we would like something for them not really wanting anything commercial i.e Haven etc.

Also a pub near by would be nice. Have looked at lots on campsite search but I am absolutely fed up of looking so could anyone put me out of my misery and recommend anywhere!!!

All of the above would suit your needs but I would particularly recommend Manor Wood Country Caravan Park south of Chester.

We store our 'van in their storage compound and regularly stay on their CL site for weekends.  The resident owners Nigel and Angela Dutton have developed a new site adjacent to their home.  It has a swimming pool, tennis court, games room, fishing lakes and children's play area.  It is set in lovely countryside with views to the Welsh hills but near to main roads.  There are a number of interesting places to visit nearby, in addition to nearby Chester, Cheshire Ice Cream Farm, Beeston Castle, Cheshire Candle Workshops, Stretton Water Mill, Chester Zoo and the Blue Planet Aquarium.

I'll second Chester Fairoaks. Ideally located for Chester and Liverpool. Pub within walking distance. McArthur Glenn Outlet Village 2 mins away.

Manor Wood is good for Chester, but not necessarily Liverpool. And although it's a great site it's very expensive (by my book anyway)

Well you could stay at Greenacres in Hawarden / Queensferry which is about 6 miles from Chester (it's attached to a farm park which is lovely but no pub that near - (well there is one but it would take about 20 mins? walk) and you are really near the A494 for Liverpool - about 40 minutes.  I think there's a real lack of campsites round here if you're not in any clubs, but there is the Southerly site by the park and ride for Chester off the A483 and that's a commercial one but no pubs within walking distance again.  I can't understand why there don't seem to be any commercial sites on the Wirral at all - just the cc club one.

Why not do a couple of days round Chester and then move to another site closer to Liverpool - perhaps on the way to Southport - might be easier?

We've stayed at C&CC Delamere Forest which we liked.  It's quite close to many of the attractions in Cheshire and a short drive from Chester.

Alternatively there is a railway station next door to the site with a service into Chester.
