Houghton Mill CC Site between St Ives and Huntingdon right on the banks of the River Great Ouse. Great for boating and fishing.
Not sure I'd recommend swimming in it or any other river for that matter though - there's a really nasty infection you can get from from rats peeing in the water.
Nice site though with a lovely little pub just walking distance away in Houghton Village square.
Cheers!

There is indeed - it's called Leptospirosis

It's fairly rare, but can develop into Weil's Disease, which untreated can kill very quickly. Basic precautions - cover cuts with waterproof plasters, don't drink the water, wash hands before eating, shower after immersion.
I canoe regularly, and my kids and I swim in the Thames at Windsor, so I'm not being a wet blanket - just cautious - know people who spent time in intensive care after contracting Weil's near Maidenhead!
