I hope to camp in the Lorton area(Cumbria)this year.I noticed there are 2 sites in the area...The Whatsheaf and Whinfell Hall.I like basic but clean facilities and a nice outlook.can anyone tell me which out of the two is a nicer site?

Whinfell is a superb place for camping, up a quiet country lane about 1/4 mile outside Lorton going towards Loweswater. The facilities are basic but perfectly acceptable.
I think the Wheatsheaf is in a long field at the back of the pub. I went to have a look but seemed to lack any character. Very glad I chose Whinfell, and went back for a second stay.
And Whinfell is that bit closer to the Kirkstyle Inn
If you've not been in the area before, you are in for a treat, with it being only 15 mins from the BEST part of the lakes, Buttermere, Crummockwater and Loweswater. I've stayed up there 15 or 20 times and enjoyed every trip.
Thanks.I know area very well and stayed in a cottage at the beginning of the year near The Kirkstile Inn.I cant wait for the weather to warm up.
I will probably chose Whinfell,thanks.
