We're thinking of going to the New Forest for the last bank holiday weekend in May. There is myself, my husband and our 3 year old son taking our tent. Forest Holidays have 3 sites that I like the look of, Holmsley, Ashurst and Hollands Wood. I've looked at the reviews on this site and they all look positive. I was wondering out of the three would be best for my family. If you could offer any advice, i'd appreciate it.
Many thanks in advance.
Nicola

I've stayed in Hollands Wood and loved it.  We were camping and I seem to remember one of the other 2 sites you mentioned doesn't have toilets, which ruled it out for us.

It is a very big site and as we stayed at the end of August it was very busy with people pitching right next to each other.  However the location is fantastic, you can walk or bike straight into the forest.  There are wild ponies wondering through the campsite.  A huge big field by one side of the campsite where the kids all ran off to to meet up and play.  Toilets/showers were clean and you could get fresh bread at the shop every day.  It is close to a fairly busy road and if you camped at that side of the site then you'd be able to hear the road noise, but on an upside its not as crowded that side.

I have only ever been to Holmsley but we love this site and usually go once a year.

My kids are 9 and 5 and love it.

I can recommend Hollands Wood, We are booked onto the site for that exact weekend.

Easy access to the forest as well as Brokenhurst for the local shops and pubs etc.

Also it appears the toilet/shower blocks have now been refurbished as well.

If you decide to go look out for us, we will be in a Hymer with a Cocker Spaniel & a Staffy.

Smiilar question from me except my favourite so far is Roundhills. I'm just a bit concerned about the size of it - 500 units sounds huge.  My other concern is the ponies.  Sound lovely but would they be a danger to small children.  We're caravanning with my nephews aged 3 and nearly 2.

the website is also pretty unclear re whether electric hook-ups are available.  can anyone confirm?
