Easy access from M6/A66 and child friendly. This will be our first family camping trip so I need to make sure kids are occupied - playgroung on this site.
Anyone been? Is it a good base for the Lake? Plenty to do with kids?
Advice comments appreciated.

Regarding reviews, with the not so good ones if there is only the odd 1 or 2 I would still consider a site depending on the time of year the visit will be.
With the above mentioned site the review from July is more for the site than the August review.
Just looked at this site and noticed that for the four of us, two adults and two kids aged 15 and 12, it would be £28 per night in summer. I can think of a lot better sites than that one and a lot cheaper. Worth joining the C&CC and going to Keswick or Eskdale instead.

As this is our first family trip we're not really sure where in Lake to go - hence the post. Can anyone recommed a site? I like the idea of a playground on the site and I guess easy access to short family walks. The reason for my post was the mixed reviews that this site had recieved!
We're planning to go 3rd week in July Monday - Friday just before the schools finish.
The Quiet Site near Pooley Bridge is lovely. they have a play area and lots of space to burn off the energy. Unusual pub too and I think a games room for the kids.

Beezers - Thank you for your recommendations. I'll check them out.
tracy35 -I looked at The Quiet Site it does look as though it could be an option.
Some site don't take books for tents should this be a problem? Not sure whether to book or not we are going on 21st July. I think schools break up later than this so maybe we could risk it!
I quite fancy the Quiet site, was supposed to be going to Anglesey but have decided on the Lakes instead, so has anybody actually stayed here, is it very expensive?

I sometimes camp at the Quiet Site, although I haven't been there for about three years. It's a nice site, about a couple of miles up a narrow road with beautiful views, and about four or five miles from the nearest village/shops. There is a small shop on site and a bar with childrens' play room. The bar closes relatively early so there is no noise. Have a look at their website for up to date prices etc.
