Looking for a tenting site perhaps around Buxton for a couple of days this April - with a view to making local walks and sightseeing has anyone recommendations - not necessarily family sight - good country/mountain scenery would be a bonus.

Looks very good thanks peskypeeza, will consider.
My ideal site would be in the mountains perhaps near waterfalls - does one exist in that area i wonder?
Stayed at Rivendale as recommended by Ang just before Easter - right next to Tissington Trail. Also at Lime Tree Park last Sept - 1 mile easy walk into Buxton centre & lovely views over viaduct.
We have just stayed at Shallow Grange Farm over Easter.Ed and his wife run a fantastic site and are very welcoming.3 miles from Buxton with views over fields but no waterfalls sorry. There are walks from the site and not far from Matlock,Ashbourne,Bakewell.

Take a look at The Royale Oak in Wetton. The camp site is the pub back garden! Very quiet and peaceful (well apart from the church next door but I like listening to the bells!)
I have heard Grin Low Caravan club site is very good, not been ourselves but my uncle lives just down the road and I know quite a few poeple that have stayed there and speak quite highly of it.
Lovely area too! I was up at my uncles last weekend when it snowed, fantastic!
Limetree Park is a popular site situated near to Buxton, it is on a back lane out of Buxton, with lots of oppurtunities to get to the heart of the Peak District, Millersdale, Bakewell, Monsal Head etc Near to (but not on) Tissington trail if you are thinking of cycling? and walking.
