I too used to go camping there when I was little. It was great me and my brother allowed to roam around on our own. But it's really changed now, we too live in Northampton and you're so right with all the things that have been posted on here.
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
We have never been there, but we have heard it's terrible - that's another reason why they stopped doing the land rover shows there - a lucky escape me thinks lol x
My mum and dad had a weekend caravan there for 20 years and we loved it. They sold it 3 years ago as the site had started to go really down hill. It is such a shame, I have such happy memories of the place, now I would not camp there if you paid me.
I posted a previous thread asking what Billing was like as we thought it might be a nice place to visit. Oh UKCS I love you all so much! You've saved me from a fate worse than death by the sounds of things. I've used your recommendations for sites every time we've gone away and so far you haven't let me down. Thank you x
------------- If you have a problem stressing you, sort it. If you can't, there's no point worrying about it coz it won't make a blind bit of difference!!!! Jules

After reading all these reviews I now realise why the Hotrod forum I am a member of is hinting that most of us are less than happy about Billing. Even in 2006 when I started going there (for the aannual Billing "fun" run) it was OK but it has not improved. Granted the rain didn't help things in 2008 (though I was lucky to find a 'dry' spot - I'll post a couple of pics when I get home) but there has been a gradual decline in security and increase in yobbery each year. The rodding association that organises the fun-run each year is split in opinions as to whether it would be better at another venue; we will have to see. This year I didn't camp - just took the wife in our Roadster Model 'A' replica on the Sat for the cruise. The place is big, and so probably difficult to police but I wont be camping there again - next year it will be Sat only for the cruise again unless Premier Inns start doing B & B for OAPs for a fiver!!!
We sold a Mardon some years ago to a chap who was going to base it at Billing therefore he wasn't bothered about the tiny bit of damp at the front in one of the lockers but I wouldn't want a 'van based there thanks.
