Looking to go camping this weekend, but do not want a long drive after a long day at work. Anybody recommend a site, maybe Cheshire, North Wales etc, need toilet, shower, ehu only. Must be within no more than an hours drive from South Manchester. Do not want a site with clubs, pubs etc, but preferably somewhere quiet in the countryside. Thank you in advance.

1 hour from manchester will take you to the lakes or north wales - have a mooch on the campsite finder - i like the map facility it gives you the sites in a area !!
Thanks guys, have found some nice sites on the "camp site search", just wanted to know if anybody had been to any local sites that we could try under recommendation.
If they are North Wales sites I can do pros and cons for you if you let me know which you have short listed We work on caravan sites doing repairs so have visited most although obviously cannot vouch for human residents / visitors

I take my son to Elm Cottage in Cheshire every year for a nights camping. Very nice and quiet (if you can camp away from the main road) and very clean.
I see a post above recommends Gibraltar Farm in Silverdale. Used to be my favourite campsite but last time we went it was quite noisy :- If it's quiet though it is lovely.
There is a lovely quiet site at 'Triangle'- Sowerby bridge. It is just a small site but you can have camp fires,EHU, & the owners are extremely friendly. There is just 1 male & 1 female toilet and shower, but lovely walks & a small cricket club for a rainy eve when a game of pool, cards or darts are in order.
It is a few miles from junction 21 off the M62... Not far at all
Great for a weekend... or a week.. or even a fortnight as I have done all!!!
