Hi there, I'm looking for a family friendly site near Poole, with plenty of stuff for the kids to do.  Anyone visited Poole recently and could recommend any sites?

Thanks in advance

Janie

Try Rockley Park part of the Haven group now. Check out the campsite search at the top of the page.

Hello Janie i live in Poole so don't often visit the local sites but one i can recommend is Wareham Forest. No entertainment but an outdoor pool and a park and the forest for the kids to explore. You could drive from Wareham into Poole in about 10- 15 minutes.

There's Rockley park which is an all singing and dancing site .
Merley Court
Sanford Holiday Park
Pear tree touring park
Beacon hill
I've stayed at Wareham and Beacon hill but not the others but I'd say Wareham has the best reputation. Hope this helps a bit. All the sites mentioned are less than 20 mins drive from Poole town centre

Ive been to Merley Court. Immaculate site. Theres a small pool and a play area for younger children. About 7 miles drive into Poole.

There are loads in the area, use the campsite search to find them and read reviews

You can even use the search for sites within a certain distance of an area, see link below

Method 4 NEW! Choose anywhere on the map, and see all sites within a certain radius.

Thanks all for your responses - just off to look all these sites up now. (Sandford one looks good).  Do prefer quieter places myself, but need lots of stuff on site to keep kids happy.  Happy kids = happy grown-ups!

Cheers

Janie

I hope so! We've just booked for a week there in June. It's had good reviews from UKCS members and they're never wrong!! LOL.

Think I'll probably book Sandford up for August - Chippy, you'll have to let me know what you think of it.

Seems there are mixed reviews about toilet/shower facilities on this site - but I'm guessing this will happen on very large family sites. As long as there's plenty for the kids to do, I can cope with not so great showers...... better take a bucket!!

I'm cheating this holiday as we've booked a static(spit!) but I will still have a nose round the campsite and let you know what it's like.

Sandford is a good site for entertainment and activities for the children.

A little way out of town but within easy access of many places.

If you are looking for a nice day out (with plenty of exercise for all) a trip to Durdle Door is well worth it. A long walk up some pretty steep pathways, a walk along the cliff top and then down to Durdle Door itself makes for a good morning and then maybe a picnic before returning later in the day. Great views, access to the beach, and it will prove your fitness...

Corfe Castle is also another place to visit for a morning/afternoon trip...

I'll have a look and see if I have any pics which I can post on our link for the Poole area.

Sandford is good for families, reasonable pitches (generally) A little noisy late evening with people returning to their vans (because of the numbers of people on the site) but overall, I'd say good...

Hope this might help?

Nigel

Thanks again
