We did, but the only pitch available (it was August) was WAAY up the end of the site, right above the large play area and totally exposed - I always complain when things go wrong, very very nicely, and it sometimes works!
Just to put these nonsense pitch fees in perspective, our favorite CL site for either van or tent or motorhome + 2adults and 2children on a minimum facility site in Devon, 3miles from the beach, 10 mins walk to 3 pubs, shops, bus stop fish and chips, costs £3.50 per night, with free range hens for company. Location, hidden in the campsite guide.
OOOh.... Well, of course there would be extra for children, dogs, awnings, ANY laughter whilst on site, sunny weather, bbq'ing, being 5ft2 or over, etc etc!!!!
I think you should just be charged for the pitch, then whatever you put on it is up to you( within reason).
Then again, I don't know much about ripping off the campers
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!

I don't want an all singing all dancing campsite. I like a small, quiet campsite with clean toilets. But in South Wales the nice ones are costing over £30 a night for a tent!

Where are you wanting to go to? We have found a site at Manorbier near Tenby that is costing us £14.20pn for our Vermont XL on a EHU pitch and that`s with 2 adults and 2 kids the last week in August..
Do you not think that sites have put their prices up drastically this year to try to recoup any financial losses due to last year's bad weather? We have been going to the same site in Norfolk every Easter for the last 9 years, the prices have always been very reasonable and any yearly increase - if any - has been minimal. Last year we paid £12 per night for two adults, two dogs, large tt and ehu - this year it was £22 for exactly the same. Now I know sites have to cover an increase in their overheads etc, and I don't mind paying an increase of a couple of pounds per night, but £10 per night is taking the p***

Personally don't mind them recouping costs this year if I thought for a moment they would put them back down once they had realised a profit.
I agree with you, but they won't put them back down again will they?!

Another charge that bugs me is that when you go with friends and want to be together they charge around £5-8 per family..I should say when you get 2 bookings at the same time wanting the same thing they would be booked side by side anyway...
We never considered joining the c&cc was really worth it until this year, there are only two of us and our 10 day fishing pilgrimage to Angelsey cost us £60 in 2006, last year it was £100 and this year it would be £130 if we went to our usual site, so i had a shop around and found a C&cc site about 2 miles away, cost of joining £33, site fees £5 x 10 = £50, total including joining fee, £83, and we also have much cheaper weekends away to look forward to
