Got 2 weeks off in June and looking for a caravan site in the area. We have a daughter who will be 3 so would prefer kids park, good bar/restaurant for mum and dad. Close to town / walking distance.

Any ideas/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

we went here a couple of weeks ago, and had a great time, good shop on site, take-away, a seperate pub and an entertainment complex on site, indoor and outdoor pools, pitch & putt, kids play areas etc. they also have a bus service £2 per person per break, that will take you to the other sites they own and also down to the beach at woolacombe, that is a super and sandy beach.

I would second above. Have not camped there but stayed in lodges or holiday flats about 6(!) times at various times of the year, they have a few other parks in the area and I would expect they are all run to the same standard. We are off to Sun Valley in Cornwall near Pentewan (sorry can't do links!- it is on here though) this year and booked after reading reviews on here- it looks quite a bit smaller than Golden Coast. We thought it looked lovely so that might be worth checking out. It only has a few touring pitches though but as you are going out of school holidays it may not be too busy.

My little one loves The River Dart country Park. The pool is not up to much, apart from that it's great!River Dart

I don't think you can beat Ruda in Croyde - has everything you need and ours LOVED it when they were tiny -  not been since it was taken over though, so you might want to read some recent reviews - you hardly need a car once you are there - apart from the odd trip to Braunton for supermarkets!

I will second the above, and I know at least another 3 families that will 3rd 4th and 5th it, we have been going here since our twins were 3 and they are 10 now.  It is a little more expensive than some sites but it is right on the beach and if you walk to it through the caravan park and not along the road you come to the beach near a river which the little ones can play happily and safely in without having to go too near the sea.  Our oldies (OH) all love the sea, body boarding surfing etc, some of them run up Baggy point around to Woolacombe and back!!   It has a club, a pool complex which your 3 year old will love, a shop, a cafe , a well priced restaurant and a great park area near to the caravan site.  You can walk into Croyde a quaint village, It is not too far from Illfracombe, Woolacombe and a lovely little beach called Putsborough.

We are off there in May for 10 days... can't wait!!

Amanda

Great thanks for all replies, we were looking at the CC site at Hillhead in Brixham price for 2 weeks £346 for awning and 3 adults and 1 child age 3. Does this sound reasonable. But will check the others in a min.

Cheers

you don't have to pay extra for the entertainment, But the nice thing when you go on holiday is meeting new people and joining in with whatever is on. Unless you have your own entertainment in the evenings
