There's a nice little site only a few miles away called Ashfield caravan park on the A1079 Hull road, try that, they also have a website.

We just came back from a CL called Warthill Grange, that's near it. No idea if they have space though, nice site, duck pond & swimming pool, but was full this weekend so doubt there will be space on a Bank Hol weekend. Just checked & it's about 6 1/2 miles from museum.

See you all soon, Bernard.

P.S-just noticed the pub site bit-there's a pub 20 mins walk away serves excellent food & cheap beer.

Hi

We stayed at Fangfoss HERE , which is about 5 miles from Elvington.

Nice quiet site with a few seasonal pitches, nice grassed area and a good childrens playground.

Pocklington is the nearest village/town with facilities such like Supermarkets and Petrol, but Fangfoss village has a really nice pub serving excellent meals.

The owners were friendly and helpful, we don't use the onsite facilities so I cant really comment, although the toilets block looked up to the clean standard of the rest of the site.

HTH

Paul

Have to agree with Biosdoctor, try Fangfoss. We are now one of the seasonal pitches Paul mentions, and we love it! The new playground is great for the kids, and there is so much to do in the area. The pub in the village is great, agree with you there Paul, and most importantly, for michelle the thread-starter, Elvington is very close!!

finally found my password, so can comment on threads again!

Thanks to all, I have managed to get the last pitch at Fangfoss, really looking forward to it, sounds really nice. Do you know if the local pub allows children and dogs in, although if its nice we could sit outside.

Michelle

Hello,  the pub allows children and dogs, and there is a large beer-garden with a play area as well. Just need the good weather now!

Well it seems to be picking up down in Leicestershire so hopefully if we keep our fingers crossed it should be fine.
