Suggestions for the last week of the summer holidays please.

One adult, one 14 (boy) and a dog.  Must have lot of bike riding and dog walking along.

Prefereably within 5 hours of Newcastle any direction.

Have done Clumber Park (Notts), Califorina Country Park (Berkshire), Edinburgh and Fort Willaim within last couple of years but need ideas.

Son is very active and gets bored easily whilst I am happy to read a book, bike or walk the dog!

We have a FC so need site facilities

Thanks

I would recommend Brighouse Bay in Dumfries http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/details.asp?revid=2780  We are going with folding camper w/c 28/7 this will be third visit and my three love it.  It is about just over 2 hours from Newcastle.

Was going to suggest the Vale of Pickering with The Pennine Owners Club but that's 9 - 25 August 2008, but there's nothing stopping you coming for the bank holiday with the owners club and then extending your stay through the site.

I know that over the bank holiday weekend there will be quite a few kids around your sons age (my eldest son is nearly 13)

Middlewood Farm....Robin-Hoods-Bay....we always took our kids there ...and we used to cycle on the old disused railway line to Whitby....about 4 and half 'easy' miles....

also you can take the cleveland way coast path from the campsite and walk up to Ravenscar with the dog ...about 'two and bit ' miles with beautiful views and a nice coffee on arrival at the Ravenscar Hotel at the top of the cliffs....it is a fantastic walk ....

We have just got back after a week in Gibson Park.it's actually in the village of Melrose. What a gem of a site. The walks/ Dog walks /cycling are teriffic ranging from 20 mins to 2.5 hrs. There's a map available at reception. The local pub the Kings Arms welcomes children and pets. So you can all go together and enjoy a lovely meal and a drink
