We are planning n going to Alton Towers in May.  We are coming down from Middlesbrough and need one on the M1 side of alton Towers.  It can be half hour or so away but it needs to be nice and accept 4 families in one booking!  Anyone got any options or been anywhere nice near there!  Clean toilets and showers are a must!

we were looking at some the other day as we are planning a similar trip! The closest we could find was heathy roods caravan and camp site. it looks very basic though and is only £3pppn so wouldn't be too hopeful. The only other thing i can suggest is, have a look on the map or use the search facility. if you find a nice one, post it on here for me

are you in tents?

we stayed at Quary Walk in october last year, it's mainly caravans and shalley (?) but there is a small field for tents where we stayed, we had 4 big tents and a gazebo and another fairly large tent pitched the night after we arrived!

it's about 20min drive to alton towers and they have lovely showers and toilettes plus washing up facilities, not really much for kids but plenty of room to play about on the field.

theres a shop on site near reception that sell odds and sodds although i didnt use it so can't say what the prices were like! - we really enjoyed it and will be going back this year when visiting the park!

The Star Caravan And Camping Park

We stayed here last year for 2 nights and spent 2 days in Alton Towers. On the 2nd visit we needed to be off site by 12 noon, so we asked staff at Alton Towers if we could park the caravan in the coach park and they let us, which meant we got to spend a 2nd day in the park for only £5 each.

The campsite was very clean, no shop, but a vending machine in reception.

The site it's self was on a slope but they have concreted each pitch to level them. It's about a mile from Alton Towers.

Has a great play area for the kids.

If I remember correctly the shower/toilet faciltities were award winning!

If you're only staying one night - have you tried the Travelodge deals - you might get one for as little as £15 (if you're lucky!)

Alton Towers is great - have you got your brit trips discounts?
