Has anyone been to the new site Poolsbrook - its only 18 miles from where we store our caravan so if ok would be good for a weekend.

Me!

We went the very first weekend it opened and it is is a nice site,as you would imagine it needs to mature as the planting is all new but it has a good spacious feel to the layout and big pitches.

The country park is next door and that is a nice walk with a lovely little cafe serving tea and cakes!

Down side is there is nothing around it and we found nearby Staveley a little bit on the run down side.

You drive through an industrial estate to reach it but if you consider that they have regenerated an old pit site and turned it into a nice park and touring site then they have done an excellent job.....worth a visit.

I am sure you would be pleased with it Galley Wench if you want a weekend of walking and relaxation

Val

Walking and relaxing - yes that sounds just right - with the added bonus of just on our doorstep.  It will be interesting to see it develope and the planting mature.  Thanks for your very valuable comments.

This is only a couple of miles from where I live, and I regualrly walk my dogs in Poolsbrook Country Park. I have seen it built from scratch and although I haven't stayed there it looks very nice.

There's a Morrisons around the corner in Staveley and also a Yeomans Outdoor & Camping shop if you need supplies. There are also pubs and a chippy if required.   A few minutes drive away is Bolsover Castle and also a nature reserve. Would be happy to let you know of any other attractions/facilities you may be interested in.

Cheers Pauline

Good to know about the camping shop.

We only live in Barnsley and hubby comes from Sheffield but I have never been to Bolsover Castle so I think a trip out there when we are at Poolsbrook.  I have booked a weekend in September.

The new junction on the M1 (29a) should be finished by then, (should have been finished last month but not ready yet ) which will make it much quicker to get to. The site is only a couple fo minutes from there. Give me a poke nearer the time if you need any more info
