Can anybody please recommend campsites with facilities for young children (under 5) within a couple of hours drive from Nottingham.

We love it & with 2 boys aged 5 & 20 months find there is loads to do to keep them occupied. Duck pond, 3 play areas with swings, slides, sit & ride toys, trampoline etc.  A land train takes you on a 15 minute tour around the park, it runs around every 2 hrs & is free.  The owner also has a pet goat (just a couple of weeks old when we were there last weekend) & the kids loved watching it jump around on the rocks.

The facilities are excellent with 2 immaculate shower blocks (1 with bath which we find easier for our 20 month old), indoor pot washing.  There is also a small bar  which has evening entertainment for the kids but we didn't use this (apart from the odd beer sat out in sunshine whilst the kids played. A lovely setting in amongst the trees.

There is also the steam railway 15 mins walk away which has Thomas the Tank Engine visits & a small animal sanctuary next to this where the kids can feed the animals.

We've been here 3 times since Aug last year & cannot recommend it enough.

I'll second the recommedation for Golden Valley.  Probably my favourite site.  Just come back from our 3rd weekend there.  We have a kids aged 3 and 6 and they spent all their time playing (except for a trip to Bolsover castle for the "Grand Joust").

I don't know whether you're in a caravan or a tent but each caravan pitch has it's own water and drainage which saves hassle filling and emptying!

All round really great place!

Carrie

Wouldn't it be great if schools and hospitals had all the money they needed and the Army had to hold jumble sales to buy guns!

Great site, you cant wish for anything better for a couple of nights,I have taken my grandkids here on weekends, and they love it,takes me about 30 mins up the A 610 from basford in Nottingham, its a shame you cant leave reviews as they would have all good ones.

Think this year is to follow old meet friends for 2014.
If you cant do someone a good turn, don`t do them a bad one,its nice to be nice you know, and little things mean much more later in life.
Pete.

Carrie, I guess you were there same time as us then, over May Day weekend?  Our 3rd time there too & we love it.

I'm glad I'm not the only one to recommend this site as I'm sure that the fact that they do not allow reviews on here would put some people off (it certainly would me if I had not been before). They did allow reviews until quite recently Pete & it was because of the good reviews that we chose the site initially. It's a shame really because the facilities are great.
