We fancy camping up and around the Wirral area, using it as a base for Liverpool and surrounding areas. However, we're not having much joy when it comes to finding a site that accepts tents (and ours is a very large tent). We don't need facilities, just a tap and somewhere to deal with toilet waste.
Any thoughts, recommendations, suggestions?
We're looking at going the middle weeks of July this year.
Thanks,
Colin :)

HI Colin, there is a basic (but pretty and has lovely views) site in Mold, north wales called Fron Farm. Its about a 20 min drive from Liverpool i would say. Look here just hover over the yellow ballon for Fron Farm. Even closer to the wirral.

I live on the Wirral and suggest you look at Wrexham in the campsite search. We have a young pup who gets car sick so we've decided Wrexham is our best bet this year. There's no campsites taking tents on Wirral so Chester/Wrexham and Mold would be the best locations.

We have same problem with our nearly 2 year old dog Tess. We have just come back from 4 days in Angelsey. On the way she was sick as usual but with all the travelling to the beaches and shops that we done and knowing she was going to have fun, she wasn't sick once whilst there, or all the way home without a stop. She seems a lot better too since we bought her a crate to travel in. Hope your pup gets more used to it as i know what a pain it can be.

You could try James's at Ruabon, near the main road so not sure if it would be noisy or even if it takes tents. If you are a member of the Camping and Caravan Club there is a certificated site, Arrowe Brook Farm near Greasby which is on the Wirral, takes tents.
Does Arrowebrook Farm take tents? this is only 10 mins drive from me so I've not considered it but the search says "No tents". The only site near Wrexham I've been to was a CL attached to a pub called the Fox and Hounds. I wasn't too keen on the toilet block which was a porta cabin with far too many flying things and spiders for my liking. The area was nice though and looking at the search facility there's quite a few sites there. I love Anglesey but am worried it's a bit too far. I've got a crate too but poor Bailey vomits like the exorcist with or without it.
