Hi barrymacg,

I have seen this subject covered a few times on the overseas camping section. Have a search. There seems to be some parking available at Marine Parade in Dover that some people use. Personally, I would stay at a CL if staying this side, and there are some good ones at Whitfield which is only 10 mins away. I decided though a few years ago to drive the extra 10 mins to the ferry and stay the other side, as that starts the French holiday sooner. La Bien Assise is only 10 mons the other side. That site has also been covered on the overseas section.

There is a new service area recently opened at junction 11 on the M20, approx 15-20 mins from Dover, the road sign says 'Service Area and Early Port Arrivals'. Stopped there briefly a couple of weeks ago, there are plently of parking spaces for caravans, interestingly there were no lorries parked.

thnx Peter

that sounds ideal, i plan leaving Worcester about 10/11 and getting my head down for a couple of hours beforre my 6 oclock sailing. i'm not sure how long it should take me at that hour of night, but i think you have solved my problem,

i wasn't too sure about parking up in the centre of Dover, and having a sleep, i've heard nightmare stories of caravan break ins there

Peter - any idea how much it cost to park for a few hours?  I found a website with info on facilities at the services but it just says up to 2 hours free parking.  We usually stay on Marine Parade and travel back to the tunnel.  We will prob arrive about midnight and our crossing is at 8.40 the next morning.

Sorry Shirl, I don't know how much it is to park there with a caravan, when I stopped there I didn't have the caravan with me and didn't pay much attention, only stopped for a quick comfort break.

Peter
