Why are acceptable campsites so hard to find in SE England? All the ones I've looked at have grotty facilities or are in an uncongenial place. Our family has a long weekend together each year, and have found suitable sites in Dorset and Norfolk. We usually book 4 or 5 pitches. This year we want to be about an hour's drive from Portsmouth, and so far I have drawn a blank.
Our requirements are as follows:
1) Within 1 to 2 hours of Portsmouth.
2) Quiet camping in a field with a toilet block.
3) No allocated pitches and where we can have our own space.
4) Must be able to pre-book
A rally field in a larger camp site or farm site would suit.
All responses are greatly appreciated.
