Hello,

Just wondered if anyone could recommend sites that are particularly good for families with toddlers, eg good play areas and quiet at night etc. We live in Birmingham so ideally looking for sites within about a 2 hour drive for weekends, although we can go further if we take a few more days off.

Thanks for any recommendations
Ruth

Hi,

I'm a creature of habit so tend to find a site I like and return rather than experiment so you may find others advice better.

I have 3 young children and places we love are: new forest - kids love the animals, adults love the forest, with bournemouth etc a very short drive away theres loads to do and tons of attractions to spoil little ones.  My favourite is Holmsley campsite (showers to hot for little ones but we take a bucket stand the kids in it with warm water and sponge em down).

The mother of all holidays for families would be to head to the Isle of Wight - go for 5 days/ a week.  There's so much to do rain or shine you can't not love it! Theres campsites galore with so much to offer! I like park resorts in Nodes Point - the other park resort sites not so nice!  Not a fan of nightly entertainment but the campsite is next to the beach, lovely swimming pool on sight, great shop and a short drive to the gorgeous beaches of Sandown and Ventnor.  The island is so small you can't help but find tons to do - it appeals to both children and parents and is an easy yet unforgettably great holiday!

Whatever you choose have a great time xx

I can recommdne two, although they are a little more then 2 hrs I think( not much more though!)

The first would be sandy balls in Fordingbridge in the New forest. They have soft play, bike hire with baby seats etc and craft sessions for toddlers as well as toddler play areas, a well stocked spar and retsuarants doing childrens/toddler meals ( liek center parcs on a basic level for campers but with excellent service!)

The second would be Brynich in Brecon. Again it has soft play/ a play barn, nice walks through woodland, great play areas, facilities/washing machines etc and by streams and a family friendly restaurant. Its recently veeb taken over by The Caravan club so you would maybe need to check the non members booking policy and rates or join.

Botha re immaculate and extremely good quality and family friendly. We have stayed at both with small children and can vouch for them being everything you want with small children ( inc quiet at night!)

I would recommend the Cotswold farm Park http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/details.asp?revid=5339 fantastic for young families, we go every year.

The Forest of Dean  http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/results3.asp?search=bracelands&by=county is lovely and not too far or Conkers http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/results3.asp?search=conkers&by=county (limited facilities) or here at Rosliston, South Derbyshire http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/results3.asp?search=rosliston&by=county

Or how about Thomas the Tank Engine Land at Drayton Manor? http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/results3.asp?search=Drayton&by=county

Happy Camping!

Wood Farm at Charmouth Dorset near Lyme Regis. Very well kept, nice indoor pool and small soft-play place and good park for the children, Big field with lake for running around. Very close to a lovely beach and lots for children in the area. Been many times when mine was tiny!

Another vote for Cotswold Farm Park! Just come back and our 3 and 5yr olds loved it!

WILL be returning!! Plus the Motor Museum in Bourton-on-the-water (6 miles away) has THE real Brum in THE real workshop!! And we walked over the bridge that Brum drives over to get to the big town! Well... my kids were ecstatic!

x
