I live near Cirencester and the park is within easy walking of the town. Lots of pubs there, Harry Hare's does very good food, a bit more upmarket than pub grub. Otherwise there's a very good Italian which is very reasonable and very friendly.
A few miles the other way outside Ciren is a village called Sapperton which has a gastro-pub called 'The Bell' ... can make other recomendations, what sort of food are you thinking of? As it's a one night stay, I would have thought that walking into town is your best option?

Cirencester is about a 20 min walk from the park, it's a very busy road though. Plenty of pubs and eateries in Cirencester. The Black Horse in Castle St does quite good food, although it can get a bit busy at night.
If you don't want to go into Cirencester, then this pub www.tunnelhouse.com does good food and is a great place to visit.
There are two big colleges near to the park, The Royal Agricultural College and Cirencester College, so pubs tend to get busy.
Hope this helps,
Debbym
Thames head is very good for food and reasonable about a 5 min drive from the campsite along the Tetbury road on the right hand side shortly having gone under the railway bridge.... For a really atmospheric pub try the Tunnel house ask for directions from the campsite it buried down country lanes a short drive from Coates.
Walking down to cirencester is not a problem because there is a dedicated walkway/cyclepath for the school kids and college which is next door to the campsite.. ? is it also possible to walk through the Cirencester Park via the campsite.

We're looking for something along the lines of a Brewers Fare or Beefeater. Nothing too upmarket 'cos the the budget will have been pretty much blown by then! LOL
Perhaps you could indicate which of your suggestions fall within these parameters..........?
Thames head easy car park right by pub no problem ... tunnel house ditto although ground not tarmaced but it is level. Cirencester Town centre... cannot park directly outside but plenty of parking in the car parks in the evening but you would have a short walk... In the day it is busy and packed.
the Black Horse, as I mentioned in my previous post, is only a short walk from the Brewery Car Park, especially if you park near the Police Station, the food is very reasonable, and as it's a Sunday when you are stopping over, then parking shouldn't be a problem.
the tunnel House is one of my favourite pubs, the drive up the track to the pub is a bit bumpy though if this would cause you problems.
You can park in the street outside the Italian. I would recommend that over the Thames Head (no offence, we weren't very impressed with the quality you got for the price when we last are there). There is also a Pizza Express opposite the Italian, if you'd prefer that. There aren;t any Beefeater or Berni chains, although if you drove through Cirencester and followed the A419 for about 4 miles, there is a pub/hotel called the 'Crown of Crucis' and they do very similiar style food. But for one night and for convenience, I'd go for the Italian.

just in case any one is interested, the walk through the park directly from the camp site has now been closed, you have to walk down the road and go in through the windsor gate, which unless you specifically wanted to walk through the park is a longer walk to town, longer than if you go via the road. The short cut from the CC site is permantently closed, not just for a period of time. We stayed on the park last month May 2008
