Was just going to suggest that one myself. John Hewitts Camping Fields in Benllech. Very extensive site only 5 minutes walk from the village and a little bit further to a lovely beach. We go at least once a year and love it - have yet to go this year. The facilities aren't exactly 5-star but the toilet/shower/laundry block on the familty field is ok, and when we were there last year there was a new block being built on another part of the site. There's loads of space for kids to play, and at the bottom of the site you can fish off the rocks. One word of warning though - DO NOT go on August bank holiday. It's a very popular site during the long school holidays and on the August bank holiday it gets really packed out. You can't book a pitch, you just turn up and pitch where you want, but if you're not going till September you shouldn't have any trouble finding space. Here's a couple of photos to whet your appetite -

Hewitts in Benllech is a gem of a site.

If they waether is good then you will be treated to some amazing views. The town is only a short walk away and you can walk across the beach to some lovely little pubs.

Hewitts itself isn't listed, it comes under Golden Sunset Holidays which does have a website but it only gives you brief details of the camping fields. Don't think there'd be much point you ringing them as you can't book, you just turn up. You don't say where you will be travelling from, but if you go across to Anglesey using the Britannia bridge - continuation of the A55 - take the slip road on the left (I think it's the 2nd one but can never remember!) signposted A5025 Amlwch. At the top turn right and follow the A5025 right into Benllech. As you go through the village you come to a crossroads with a petrol station on the left hand corner and a big car park and the Jolly Fryer takeaway on the right - just a bit further on you see a sign in the hedge on the right for Strand Caravan site. A few yards further on from there is a turning on the right into a dirt lane - Hewitts sign is in the hedge. go down the lane and it takes you straight into the site. Hope this helps.

We usually set off early in the morning so there's less traffic, it takes us about 2hrs 45mins from here, allowing for a stop halfway for the dogs.

Bodfan farm is SUPER!! Check it out on reviews. We've been regulars there for the past 10 years. All our kids have learnt to ride their bikes there, we know most of the regulars and all the kids on the site roam and play all day while parents can relax.

Its only a 5 min stroll to a great beach, our kids love to surf.

Its in a nice village with a post-office a couple of Surf Dude shops and a few eateries. But don't forgetto try the ice-cream parlour for the BEST ice-cream in Wales.

Alwyn's farm aka Bodfan farm is one of the best places on earth!!!

It basic...but spotless and Alwyn and Mrs Alwyn and his kids are soooo nice and welcoming.  For the past 10 years our kids have refused to go anywhere else. But for the last couple of summers we've managed to lure them to C'wall for the summer...but only on the understanding that we still spent Easter and Springbank at alwyns.

Hope you go and I know you'll love it.

Rach

Another vote for Bodfan Farm, Rhosneigr...lovely and quiet, great views and handy for everything you'll want in a beach holiday.......even a day trip to Dublin if the weathers not so kind.............
