Hello

We are booking to go to a nice campsite in the school holidays with two other families. We've been told there is a £20 disturbance bond but I've never come across this before. Seen it sometimes for groups but never for families. Is this quite a common thing? Also, what counts as a disturbance? Obviously, load music and rowdy behaviour but between the three families we will have ten children - ranging from 1 yr old up to early teens and I don't want to spend all holiday telling the kids to be quiet etc.

Don't know why but its put me off slightly, all though on one hand I'm sure it means the site will be quiet????

Thanks

gemma

Jeez I have never heard of that before but to be honest it doesn't surprise me and can think of a couple of occasions where it would have come in handy..

I have never been asked to pay this before. Regardless of paying this or not I wouldn't dream of taking my kids if I thought they would be a neuisance to other people.

You are obviously going to get noise from families but I think as long as it is at a reasonble time of day and it's only the sound of them having fun and playing sensibly (not having screaming competitions or constant arguing and fighting) I don't see what the problem would be.

We were recently on a site where there were 13 children from various pitches on our row all riding bikes and scooters up and down, playing 'motorways' the noise was loud but it was late afternoon and it was only laughter general banter. My 2 boys joined in and had a great time, personally I thought it was lovely to see so many children (nearly all strangers to each other) getting along so nicley and having so much fun.

If you are know your party is not going to cause any problems then you don't have anything to worry about, but it might be worth double checking on what the site owners consider to be a 'disterbance'.

We were away last week and there were loads of different groups of kids all playing.   Although you could hear them, I wouldn't say that they were noisy - just kids playing.  Which is what camping should be about, on family sites.   Non of them where disturbing anyone, or deliberately kicking balls at tents etc - just having tons of fun.

Can't say for adult only sites, but on a site that caters for families I would expect a certain level of noise, up until about 10/11 at night.    Also I find that they tend to come to life between about 7.30 and 8 in the morning.

It because you are booking with 2 other families so they are worried as a group you may be noisey and unruley ,dont worry just go and prove them wrong and get your money back

Oh in answer to the question -what causes a disturbance ?

Anything that would cause someone else to feel the need to complain about you

We aren't even going to be pitched with the other 2 families though - we're taking our tourer and they are both in tents!

Everyone's idea of a disturbance is different. Feels like those "deposites" that student landlords take and then find ways of not returning. I would want chapter and verse on what constitutes a disdurbance before handing any dosh over.

Only £20 hey!  If you go to Polzeath before July 18th you have to pay an extra £100 bond if you have teenagers with you (at Tristram) - it's to try to stop rowdy teenagers but they have had lots of problems during June when GCSEs are finished (we've never been there then, we usually go in August but this year we are going in July).

I remember we were sat there and two vans pulled up on with all the tents and another full of beer . This big fella got out opened a can and said just to warn you all i have paid the fine up front in otherwords he was saying like it or lump it . You should off seen the look on everyones face of shock but it was so funny they drank that much they were all in bed for about 9 lmao

I love to see kids playing, but fail to see why they feel the need to ride a bike between my car and caravan...this happened May bank hol weekend..the parents had told them not to ride round their van!!
