Does anybody go to sites in their local area just to get out from the normal four walls?

There are three sites within 30 mins from our house.  Which we are considering using for Friday evenings (straight from work) and Saturday evenings. Problem is only 30 mins away and we go shopping there anyway on Saturdays.

Is it worth it?

We have camping sites all around us as we live right by the sea in Norfolk. We have not stayed overnight on any really close ones yet 45 mins away is the closest, only used the ones a few mins drive away to try out new tents as our garden is too small lol

there is a campsite about 30 mins from us, that my husband has mentioned going to but i always think its to close to home, the upside of this site would be that one of us could pop home and feed the cats

however we regularly go to a site that is about 50 mins drive and thats much better, its not to far, but far enough to be somewhere different just for a couple of days

Last year went to site 15 minutes drive away!! Had a great time. kids love camping wherever they are. Once the tent's up and the view's different, you could be at the other end of the country. A bottle of red wine helps as well of course.

Hi Bon, I live in Swansea, and I only ever ususally camp in Gower,30-40 mins  and also Riverside in Morriston, which is only about 20 minutes away.

The convenience factor is the big one for me.  I don't drive, hubby is self employed, and can't afford the time off, and not keen on tent camping either. So he drops me off, stays a night here and there, and me and the kids love it.

Thinking about it your all right, once you are set up it does not matter where you are as long as you can relax.

The sites are within the Beacons National Park so views everyway you look.

We are picking up our first caravan tomorrow and we want to go somewhere close to home to try it out for our first trip. I thought it may have been silly just going 40 mins up the road but after reading this I can't wait.

I am so excited .. feel like a little girl waiting for christmas morning  lol.
