Off for a short break in a week or so and wondered if anyone can recommend any good family days out that won't break the bank.

The site is near to hartlepool if that helps, will be there for 5 days.

Thanks

Hi Sue and John, not sure what you are looking for but hope some of this is useful

I only live in hartlepool so not sure if I can help lol

Hartlepool is famous for it's Historic quay, if you are interested in sea stuff lol

www.hartlepoolsmaritimeexperience.com -

PSS Wingfield castle (free)

Bemish museum is not to far away

The beach at Crimdom used to be fab, but haven't been for many years so not sure about now.

The Museum of Hartlepool is free.

Camerons Brewery Heritage Centre:

Art gallery and clock tower

Summerhill, Outdoor sports
Eight key outdoor sports have been identified for Summerhill. They are rambling, cycling, horse riding, exercise and fitness, cross country running, orienteering, archery and rock climbing. Each of these sports is provided for on the site in some way.

Quad biking www.quads4all.org.uk

St Hilda's Church,  Not only is St Hilda's a beautiful church, it also represents the whole of the Headland and tells the story of the town within its walls.

19th Century Cannon
Situated in Hartlepool's Headland keeping a watchful eye looking out to sea, the cannon was captured from the Russian Army at the siege of Sebastopol during the Crimean War and presented to the town by Lord Panmore in 1857.

The Town Wall
Still in existence today guarding the Headland, built to keep out raiding Scots in the 14th century. Some parts of the wall date back to that period including the historic Sandwell Gate which can still be seen - it is over 8ft thick at this point.

Both of these are well worth a look!

Golf

Seaton Carew has just got a blue flag award:  A splendid promenade connects the Marina with one of the Victorian's favourite North-East resorts. Seaton Carew with its miles of broad golden sands and safe sheltered bathing is still the perfect venue for a traditional family day out at the seaside. Enjoy good flat beaches to fly kites and build castles, rock pools to hunt shrimps and amusement arcades that flicker and sing - Seaton Carew is well worth visiting when you stay in Hartlepool.

Pizza hut, Macdonalds, Burger king, KFC, Cinema Town center for shopping.

We have a static there that is leased out! It might be ours you're in!

Anyway when we've been down we've been to lots of places.

Seaton Carew for the beach/amusements/fish and chips

There's an animal farm directly across from the entrance road to the park (can't remember the name but its up the hill)

We've done Metroland at the metrocentre when its been raining

The site itself has a good pool and facilities now.

Also been to Beamish but that was a touch expensive and have generally toured around the whole area.

hth, Kelly
