We went at May bank holiday - great site - really relaxing. Owners couldn't do enough to help. There is a shop in the nearby village selling basics and newspapers - you could walk but would take about 30 mins up a winding country lane. We did a shop at Morrisons in caernarfon which is about 12 miles away. The site shop was open for an hour in the monring and an hour in the evening on the Bank holiday weekend - this sold basics such as bread, milk butter, bacon etc. Think its open during the main summer holidays but not sure if it is "off peak". The beach is small and very rocky but the children spent ages in the rock pools whilst I enjoyed reading my book lounging in the sunshine between the rocks!! There is plenty of room for the children to run around. Only downside was the shower facilities - packed on the Sunday morning! However plenty of loo blocks dotted around where you could also freshen up in private.
We had a great stay at Aberafon. If you tell the owners exactly what you want from your site they will try and get you in the right field. We usually camp right on the cliff edge as the views are fantastic but if the wind gets up then it can spell the end. Also they have a small adventure playground so if you have kids you might want to be in that field.Make sure you get a map of all the pitches so you know what one to book next time(they are available at reception).Im sure you will have a great time and the sun will shine.

We've stayed there several times and are booked again in august, Great site if you have young children especially when the tide goes out as it does reveal a sandy beach, There is also a stream that runs down one side of the site and into the sea which is also great for the kids to play in, Shops etc are a short drive away but the area has so much to do and visit and mostly for free. You are allowed to have campfires on the beach and on a nice evening its nice to have rather than a BBQ. The access road can be a bit scary at first but we managed to get down it easily and we have a long unit, just take your time. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.
