Hi all, first post on ukcampsite so here goes.

Having just caught the camping bug we are travelling down from the north east to camp at Chertsey in August as we've promised the kids a trip to legoland this year.  Boys are 5 & 3 and i'm wondering have others made a similar trip and what is the site like.  Any advice on travelling to legoland from the site i.e. is it better to drive or use public transport etc or any other useful info would be most welcome.

thx in advance

Hi and welcome to the forum.  To get to Legoland from Chertsey you are best to drive.  Get on the M25 at Chertsey then take the M3, it shouldn't take you more than 30 mins.  Legoland is good fun and I am sure that your kids will enjoy it, mine did and we now have annual passes

Its a little bit too addictive I 'm afraid, but i've learnt so much here that I couldn't have picked up anywhere else.  Its also a great way to unwind when I come home from work at silly o'clock at night.

The parking is pretty straightforwards at LegoLand, though I've never been there in August so I've neve seen the carparks get anywhere near full. My advice is to be there by opening time though.

And not to go at the weekend! Have you got Tesco vouchers? We bought Annual Passes last year as it was cheaper than two day passes, and if you can it's nice to have a couple of days there so you don't get too stressed at the queues for the rides. Passes gif you food and gift shop discounts as well, and last year also included a sheet of discount vouchers for other plasces. We were still using the Vue cinema tickets into March.

Take the usual comfy shoes, drinks and snacks to avoid the kiosk prices and take swimsuits and a small towel for the kids as there's a water fountain park at Duplo Land. Nice on a hot day! Also a bin liner for backpacks and camera equipment at the Pirate Falls...my Hubby freaks at the thought of his precious cameras getting wet.

We did Legoland at spring bank holiday but stayed at Horlsey and also did Thorpe Park and Chessington world of Adventure - Kids are adrenaline junkies!! - saying that one of them is only 2 but still loves all the rides that she can go on.

Hi, We stayed on the caravan and camping club site (Chertsey) at Christmas last year. The site is very good and right by the river. We found the surrounding area not so great - bit run down, however if you are going mainly for legoland I guess this doesn't really matter. Have a great time!

I live near legoland - yes August will be queues, but as you are staying nearby you can stay later - if the weather is good they sometimes open later, (they decide on the day) I find the coach partys tend to leave between 4-5 as you won't be on a tight time schedule you should have more fun time...

Yes- to taking own snacks and drinks, I used the Tesco vouchers, I find them good value. The age of your boys, they will love it - and so will you.

Have a great time.

We stayed at Chertsey C&CC site just after Easter and visited Legoland.  We have two boys aged 9 & 4.  We drove from the site which took us around 30 minutes.

We used Tesco vouchers too and just went for 1 day.  I think the suggestion of two days is a good one as we couldn't get round everything even though we went at a quiet time of year.

Have you looked in the review section?  There's quite a few for Chertsey site.

We have stayed at Chersey and Laleham ..... both easy to get to Legoland ..... never had any problems with parking, usually arrive just before 10am

There is a wet play area at Legoland, so may be worth taking swimming gear and a towel ....

Briliant day out, so much to see ..... kids wil love it
