Has anyone got any recomendations for quiet sites in Wales, prefer the coast but dont mind inland. We have just returned from a gorgeous site near newquay which has been totally ruined by extremely noisy neighbours. We had to listen to 8 or 9 very loud voices, an even louder tv and 2 very noisy dogs till midnight every night. To make it worse, they were all up at 6.30am every morning clattering pans, shouting and playing with the dogs so that they howled and barked non stop. When we complained to the owner, he suggested we have a word with them, which we did not really want to do, so we had to put up with it. The owner did not live on site so nobody could sort it out.
We are very anxious not to have this happen again so we need to pick our site really carefully. Any advice would be welcomed, we have 2 children but a play area is not important and we definately dont want a club house. Thanks in advance.

I prefer the CL or CS sites. This is one of the factors in this choice.
People tend to choose these because they are quiet, and they really don't appeal to rowdy parties.
Edit
Sorry, just realised you are tenters!!!But the principle still applies
Cannot recommend quiet sites in Wales but we stayed on a Camping & Caravanning Club site for the first time this weekend and it was really quiet between the hrs of 11pm and 7am. We were all probably too scared to make a noise after 11pm as the warden was quite strict. When we arrived he paced out the 6m to make sure we didn't get too close to our neighbours!! However it was very relaxing and it was nice knowing that if there was a noisy group it would have been sorted out!

Have to agree with previous posters, noisy neighbours was the main reason we joined the C&CC. We've stayed on a few of their club sites and all is dead quiet by about 10.45pm. We did once have a slight problem but it was sorted within minutes - I know they're not everybodys cup of tea, but we very rarely stay on commercial sites now.

cant help re wales but just come back from 1st trip to a c&cc site(scarborough) and all 3 nights you could hear a pin drop at 11pm never ever had peace and quiet like it well impressed
Thank you all for your advice. Have thought about camping and caravan club but had heard few negative things about over the top wardens, however, I would have welcomed one this weekend !
The campsite in question is Cei Bach Country Club near Newquay. It gets glowing reviews on here and we checked it out beforehand and loved it. I am not sure if we were just unlucky but it is the first time we have camped on the coast and our first time with a club house on site, so maybe we should have expected more noise. Also they ask for quiet after midnight when the clubhouse finishes, so this is later than others. The owner did not live on the camp site which I felt made a difference, although he did stopover the one night to keep an eye on a problem family on site. The site is in a beautiful position but it did seem to have a few large groups.
Will definately check out the sites recommended and look into joining the camping club. Thanks all.
A lot of the C&CC certified sites are lovely and brilliant for tents. Don't tend to have the OTT wardens - they are usually on the bigger sites, but they are always quiet after 11 and often earlier. Because they are member only sites, you don't get the problem of rowdy groups.
------------- There will be good days and bad days and THIS is one of them.
I can't believe the attitude of the owner/manager suggesting that you have a word with the people in question, rather than him. He is being paid for your pitch and part of management is responding to peoples' concerns and complaints. Another point you've learned is never stay on sites without a manager/owner also staying there ...

yes, try a certificated site, if you are not a member of the Camping and Caravan Club you can usually join at the site. Many of them have electricity, showers and loos so don't be put off by the idea that they are all "tap in a field" type sites.
