Hi, There's a flatish off road cycle route down the east side of windermere, best place to start it is at the ferry end, if you were coming off the ferry onto the eastern shore about 1/4 mile up the road there's a sharp left bend and a small road off to the right, there's a free car park down there and great for BBQing on the lake shore aswell.
Otherwise get a OS landranger map and you can cycle on any bridlepath, or unmade road for which there are thousands. A hint.. look at the map contours that will tell you how steep the hills are!!!! something I forget to do!!!
As Janetj says, the park coppice site or coniston old hall site are ok, we've cycled past many times, noticed they are muddy though when wet.
