Suppose the credit crunch really is having an effect. We were booked into our favourite site this weekend, but the wife has put her back out. Ok will have to cancel, but we promise the kids we will go later in the year (as they love the place). Turns out they are now fully booked every weekend till September

Gutted. So can anyone recommend a nice site with EHU's, kid friendly (ie park etc), and takes big tents and pets in the Dales or Lakes ?

Cheers all.

could probably reccommend a few, but you would still struggle with booking in advance, especially if you need ehu.

There was actually an article in The News Of The World on Sunday about the surge in popularity of camping and they reckoned it was down to the credit crunch saying that a fortnight in August for a family of four abroad could cost around £3000 when it could cost less than £20 per night camping in the UK. Hey, that's exactly why we're under canvas for the first time in four years again! You only have to look at the queues in go outdoors for the past three Sundays to realise it's a popular pastime. (Yes I DID say the last 3 Sundays!)

If you have a problem stressing you, sort it. If you can't, there's no point worrying about it coz it won't make a blind bit of difference!!!! Jules

Think this year is to follow old meet friends for 2014.
If you cant do someone a good turn, don`t do them a bad one,its nice to be nice you know, and little things mean much more later in life.

Even before all the talk of Credit Crunch, camping was being portrayed as the "in" thing in many of the glossies and Sunday suppliments.    Consequently many more people are trying out camping as their hoiday.
Picture of a nice family with smiley faces cooking outside their tent, when the sun is shining.   Nice glass of chilled wine in hand, and nice clean kids.   Oh what a lovely holiday.
Prehaps when some of them realise that it isn't always like that then they may go back to their 2 weeks in the sun.

How boring it would be, no fun at all lol.

Personally can't wait to spot new campers when we go away, it always rains when we go.

LOL!!

Thats the site I was originally talking about. We were booked in this weekend at Knight, but now they are fully booked all summer. Not surprising really, its a cracking site.

Spring Lea Looks l=nice but wont accommodate our tent. I think I'll give Park Foot a call as they seem to have good reviews.

Thanks all, but keep the sites coming.

Hi to all 3 Boltonians, I'm originally from Tyldesley but now live in Leigh.  I've noticed that our local Go Outdoors (Wigan) has suddenly become extra busy.  Booked a weekend at Lakeland (Haven) for Mid September, with EHU about 3 weeks ago didn't have any probs booking two pitches then.
