Hi there i'm also from Halifax, and new to camping and caravaning and only been out twice, the first time we stayed at the Riverside Campsite at Pately Bridge which took us about 1hr 15mins its a lovely site and you can walk into pately bridge in 2 mins it cost £16 per night with ehu, and there was 2adult and 2children in the party.
And the second time was last weekend and we stayed at Elvington campsite outside of York which was quite basic compared to Patley Bridge but it had everything you need including a indoor swimming pool at that was only £9 per night with ehu (bargain) and that only took us less than 1hr 30mins.
And we want to get away this weekend as well but a little unsure as to where to go as yet as there's so many places to visit.
Hi ... also from Halifax, could mention a few we have been too but it all depends what you are looking for .... EG ... family site with entertainment etc ... or quite location with great scenery etc ...

Hi im also interested into what sites people recommend within an hour or 2 from Halifax, and as a family of 2adults and 2 children we are really easy going as to where to stay, but preferably we need at least some kind of play area for the kids.
I would deffinately recommend Gallaber Park in Skipton then Minesapint, pitches are fantastic all with EHU very well drained, and lovely toilet and showers!

Went there with our tent just me and my son over the last school holiday. We loved it. Fantastic views, great playground for the little ones.Loads to do within 10-15 minute drive. It is close to Skipton with it's castle and canal boat rides. Near Keighley and the Worth Valley Railway.Keighley has a nice swimming pool with a slide and separate toddler pool. Aireville Park (Skipton) has a pool, play area, putting etc. Good shops and market in Skipton. Near Bolton Abbey. Not too far to Ilkley. I could go on! Site is on the hilltop - so little chance of being flooded I would think!
Great price too £4 adult, £3 child and £1 EHU. Took around 35 minutes to drive from Halifax, yet seemed a million miles away. Son keeps pestering me to go again, which we will over the summer holidays. Provided I haven't made it too poular by raving about it on here!
Hi..we've just been to Woodhouse Farm in Ripon. Not sure what sort of site you are after..but we found it to be very noisy till around 2am. It did have a lovely lake with ducks though.
