Looking for advice from you seasoned travellers as i havent  been on holiday in this country since childhood. We fancy going to either south devon of east cornwall but not to sure on the areas our children are 7 ,10 and 12 . We would like to be on the coast line ideally walking distance from a beach .The elder 2 are into watersports and the youngest horse riding. Also if you have any gems of campsites that would be great. We only want a basic site with showers and toilets really dont fancy big commercial sites. Thanks

Hi

Not sure when you are looking for, but we are holding a meet in Cornwall, the dates are Fri July 25th - Sat Aug 9th, you can find details of the site/meet here or look at the link at the bottom of this post. The price is £7 per night (NO EHU), although not a walk to the beach, its only a few mins by car to Praa Sands.

Hi - the area I live is lovely (Chudleigh) - very varied countryside, easy access to the moors (great riding!) but the beaches are not so marvellous -

The South Hams are just beautiful - fantastic beaches, lovely countryside - anywhere around Kingsbridge you can't go far wrong, Bigbury is lovely!  The CCC have some really nice sites in the area - Slapton for example.

East Cornwall - the Looe area is really nice, we always camp at West Wayland when that way - again the countryside is pretty - or further down the Helford area is beautiful!

TOO much choice.... ?   Jackie

I can second the south hams, we stayed at bolberry house farm, very rural, about a mile walk to nearest beach, village, and pub, all child, and dog friendly.  Penny

My caravan is just down the road from Jakks at Holmans Wood.  Great forest walks right on your doorstep and easy to get to the coast.  Also Exeter and Plymouth if the weather is inclement and Dartmoor for good walking.

Well run site, nothing but a huge playing field, toilets and showers and not yobby.  The tents are pitched in the meadow which is beautiful with a stream at the bottom and a large number of bunnies!
